Terms of Use

The app

Sidestep is a Safari extension for macOS, iPadOS and iOS, published by CorvusDevs. Buying it grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to use it on the devices tied to your Apple Account, under Apple's standard End User Licence Agreement.

What it does, and what it cannot promise

Sidestep replaces requests for common web libraries with copies stored on your device. It covers the libraries and networks bundled with the app; it cannot cover a library it does not ship, and a page may still load other resources from the network. Sidestep is a privacy improvement, not a guarantee of anonymity, and it is not a VPN, an ad blocker, or a substitute for either.

Site compatibility

Serving a local copy can occasionally change how a site behaves. Sidestep can be turned off for any individual site from the toolbar popup, and turned off entirely in Safari's Extensions settings.

No warranty

Sidestep is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CorvusDevs is not liable for any loss or damage arising from its use.

Refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple. Refund requests go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Open-source components

The bundled library files come from the LocalCDN and Decentraleyes projects and remain under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. Each bundled library keeps its own upstream licence.
